Academic Service Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to students who have a minimum 3.0 and a record of service to their school and/or community. This scholarship also requires the recipient to work a total of 125 hours per semester at the University. A letter of interest, along with information regarding your service commitments and three recommendations, is required. These items are all addressed in the online scholarship application. Andrew D. Holt UT Alumni Association Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to one (1) incoming first-time freshman student with a minimum GPA of 3.50. It is based on academic merit and leadership qualities. Full-time enrollment is required.

This scholarship will be awarded to students with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and 3.0 in their major and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students majoring in English. The student awarded this scholarship shall have demonstrated financial need in the broadest sense.

Asa Van Frazier Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to a member of any African Methodist Episcopal denomination church. The next preference would go to individuals who are pursuing careers in teaching. A student awarded this scholarship in previous years shall have a preference in the selection procedures in subsequent years.

This scholarship will be awarded to outstanding and deserving undergraduate students majoring in Creative Writing, English, Music, Art, or Theatre. Barbara and Robert Oldham Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates financial need in the broadest sense. First preference is given to students who are single parents.

Ben P. Shields Sr. Scholarship

Catoosa, Walker, Georgia

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who resides in either Catoosa or Walker County, Georgia. Financial need and academic performance may be considered.

This scholarship will be awarded to a currently enrolled or admitted student in good standing who is pursuing an accounting degree. The recipient must demonstrate successful academic performance with at least a 2.500 GPA. Financial need can be considered. Preference will be given to non-traditional students. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Community Trust Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who is majoring in business with a preference towards those concentrating in insurance.





Brainerd Kiwanis Club Scholarship

full time, Circle K, Key Club, Tyner Academy, Hickory Valley High School, community service

This scholarship will be awarded to full-time students of UTC. Preference is given to members of Circle K or Key Club at UTC, Tyner High School, or Hickory Valley High School. Members of the above organizations may also be considered with preference given to Chattanooga area students. Third preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a history of community service to children. Applicants and continuing recipients must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The student who receives this award is invited to attend at least one Brainerd Kiwanis Club meeting and to participate in a club activity during the year. A student could be eligible to receive the scholarship for up to four (4) consecutive years at UTC.





Brown Stove Works, Inc., Free Enterprise Scholarship

Engineering, business, Brown Stove Works, Cleveland, Bradley County, Meigs County, Polk County, McMinn County

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipients of this scholarship must have declared a major in either the College of Engineering or the School of Business. First preference is given to lineal descendants of current employees with two years of service or a former employee with 25 years of service with Brown Stove Works, Inc. A letter from Brown Stove Works, Inc., is required. Next preference is given to a Cleveland State Community College student desiring to transfer to UTC who is already on a scholarship provided by Brown Stove Works, Inc., provided the transfer student has a 3.0 GPA. The third preference goes to any student transferring from Cleveland State Community College with a 3.0 GPA. The final preference goes to any resident first of Bradley and then Meigs, Polk, or McMinn counties of Tennessee. A student awarded this scholarship in previous years shall have a preference in the selection procedures in subsequent years and the student maintains a 2.75 GPA.





Physical Therapy

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is pursuing a doctorate in Physical Therapy. Preference will be given to those entering their first semester and those who are first generation college graduates. This scholarship requires a separate application. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and who demonstrates financial need. A student who held this award in previous years shall reapply in subsequent years to be considered for the continuation of the award.





Nursing, Graduate

This scholarship will be awarded to graduate students enrolled at UTC in a nurse practitioner or nursing informatics concentration. An eligible student will have completed nine full time hours in the graduate program and currently be enrolled in the second nine. This scholarship requires a separate application. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates financial need.





C. Gibbs and Linda W. Smith Business Scholarship

Nashville, Chattanooga, local, McCallie, business

This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in business who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates financial need. First preference is given to students from the Nashville, Tennessee area. Second preference will be given to students from the Chattanooga area, preferably those students who are graduates from the McCallie School. A student who held this award in a previous year shall have preference in the selection procedures in subsequent years.





Military Science

This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student with an interest in military service. The student awarded will have demonstrated initiative and leadership capacities through his or her participation and achievements in campus and civic activities, completed their freshman year, but not yet started their sophomore year. They must possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5, and rank in the upper 20 percent of his ROTC class. This scholarship requires a separate application. Southeast, Southeast school districts, financial need, Southeast Center for Education in the Arts, SCEA

This scholarship is available to Southeast school districts with difficulties finding the financial means for sending participants, or interns, to the Institute of the Southeast Center for Education in the Arts at UTC. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and/or who demonstrates financial need. A student holding this scholarship in one year may receive preference in subsequent years.

Carolyn Thompson Spirit Award



This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is engaged in University & community activities and has demonstrated exceptional volunteer service & leadership skills. The selected student must be a member of the Chancellor's Ambassadors, the Student Foundation, the Student Government Association, or the Student Alumni Council while maintaining at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. The student must demonstrate financial need.





Catherman Scholarship

county, Sevier County

The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and demonstrates financial need. First preference will be given to students who graduated from a Sevier County, Tennessee high school. Next preference will be given to high school graduates of counties adjacent to Sevier County. Final preference is given to students from any East Tennessee County. Students who held this award in a previous year shall have a preference in the selection procedure in subsequent years with all other things being equal.





Charles A. Noone Memorial Fund



This scholarship will be awarded to a male and female incoming freshman who reside in Hamilton County (resident for at least 2 yrs). The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students could be eligible to receive this scholarship for four (4) consecutive years by maintaining scholarship requirements.







One half of this scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Human Resource Management in the School of Business and the other half to a student majoring Industrial Organizational Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences. This scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who shows satisfactory academic and financial needs. The recipient should have a 3.0 GPA and be a Tyner Academy graduate.





David A. Knauff Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of Ooltewah High School who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need.





David M. Brammer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is an active member of Sigma Chi and has been enrolled at UTC for at least one full year. Please contact your chapter president for more information.





David M. Key Memorial Fund

This scholarship will be awarded to UTC students residing in the Chattanooga area with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

This scholarship will be awarded to students who have a satisfactory academic record and demonstrated financial need. Preference will go to students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. Earl W., Sr., & Viva H. Winger Scholarship



This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has completed at least one year of successful coursework at UTC, is classified as a sophomore or higher and is degree-seeking in good standing with at least a 3.00 overall GPA. Preference will be given to student-veterans in the following majors (listed in order of preference as well):
  1. Communication,
  2. Business,
  3. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), 
  4. Allied Health (Nursing, pre-Medical, pre-Dental, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy).
It is Donors' strong desire that the recipient demonstrates a strong work ethic inside and outside the classroom, a preeminent degree of self-reliance, the traditionally accepted standards of high moral character, and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism in the manner in which they present themselves.

This scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates financial need. Preference will be given to students who graduated from East Ridge High School. Elizabeth and W. Roy Meyers Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 while majoring in business, engineering, education, nursing or a science-focused liberal arts. Selected students must submit a resume and a one-page essay stating why this scholarship is important to them.

This scholarship will be awarded to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to Education majors who plan to become teachers. Fred R. Westcott Scholarship

Frost Family Scholarship



This scholarship is open to all undergraduate, degree-seeking students who are either veterans, dependent of a veteran, dependent of a first responder, or a UTC ROTC Cadet.  Selected students must enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree program. Candidates must have at the minimum an overall UTC cumulative GPA of 2.500 (or in the case of entering first-time freshmen, a high school GPA of 2.500) at the time of application review. Applicants Must Submit their online scholarship application by April 1 for the Next Academic Year.





Gene H. Kistler Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who is a declared Pre-Medical major, and who has a greater than or equal to a 3.0 GPA.





George R. West Jr. Scholarship

George S. and Norma L. McCarty Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student who has demonstrated financial need. Candidates must have graduated from a public high school in Hamilton County. A student who held this award in a previous year shall have a preference in the selection procedures in subsequent years.





Gertrude J. Witt Scholarship

full time, financial need

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need. Special consideration will be given to students from a single parent home and those who have a sibling(s) attending college at the same time. Students receiving the scholarship in one year will receive preference in subsequent, assuming all other conditions are met.





Engineer, engineering, teacher, Teacher Education Program, education, teaching

This scholarship is offered through the generosity of Mario and Grace Charles. An eligible candidate must 1) Be a Full-Time UTC student during the award period (minimum of 12 credit hours each semester); 2) Major in Education (must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program or graduate students admitted to an education program that includes certification); 3) Have a minimum 3.5 GPA and completed at least 30 hours at UTC (AP credit from high school is included). This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate or undergraduate junior student pursuing an interdisciplinary project in which one discipline is an art form. All projects must demonstrate evidence of research or application in and through an artistic discipline.
The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Students awarded in one year may reapply for a second year but, reapplication does not guarantee preference for a second year and will be subject to scholarship committee review.
A 300-word essay on how funds from this scholarship would be used, how their selected art form(s) contributes to their research, and opportunities to disseminate their work through conferences, publications, and/or other appropriate outlets. A letter of support from the mentoring faculty and/or staff member must be submitted with application materials. The letter must detail how the faculty and/or staff member will support the student's project. Faculty and/or staff mentors must have been with the university for at least one year and cannot be employed through the Arts-Based Collaborative. Those requirements for entering freshman are either a 21 composite score on the ACT, or a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0. This scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student who is either on current active duty with one of the United States Military branches or has previously received an honorable (or general discharge under honorable conditions). A student's enrollment in the G.I. Bill is not required. Eligible students must have at least a 3.00 GPA and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Recipients are encouraged to engage with the Student Veteran's Organization (SVO) at UTC and with other veterans in the University family and Chattanooga community as much as possible but not to the detriment of academic performance.

UCF Southeast Bank Scholarship

Beginning Fall22 and thereafter, this scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who plans to attend UTC immediately following their high school graduation. *Only high school seniors from the following TN counties will be considered - Bradley, Hamilton, Knox, Loudon, McMinn, Meigs, Putnam and Rhea. The student must be admitted into a degree program and demonstrate financial need (as determined by the FAFSA). The student must attend full-time at UTC for the fall and spring semesters. Students with a proven record of community service, leadership and academic achievements will be given priority consideration.
